21-year-old Ellie from Alvaston, has demonstrated that small lifestyle changes can lead to significant improvements in health and weight management. Over the past year, Ellie has successfully lost two and a half stone, reducing her BMI by seven points. This impressive achievement has been supported by advisor Mark Dolman, who leads Livewell’s Liveability programme, which offers specialised weight management support for individuals with learning and other disabilities.
Next month marks a full year of Ellie's participation in the programme. Despite the challenges posed by Autism Spectrum Condition, Ellie has ventured beyond her comfort zone, embracing activities like gym workouts and independent walks outdoors. Her diet has seen a marked improvement; where she previously skipped breakfast, she now incorporates it into most days. Her portion control has also improved significantly.
Ellie shares her experience: "I've found Livewell to be a great programme that has kept me on track with my targets. Before I started, I struggled to lose weight and didn't think it was possible. Livewell helped me make small adjustments that led to big differences, and now I feel healthier and more comfortable with myself. I achieved my goal by making small changes to my diet, adjusting my portions, using portion-controlled pre-made meals, and exercising when I can."
Livewell advisor, Mark Dolman adds: “Despite facing personal challenges, Ellie has consistently exceeded her goals, achieving a weight loss of nearly 20% of her body weight. The effort she has made along with her proactive and positive approach deserve recognition - I’m delighted she is receiving the December client of the month award. Ellie's journey is an inspiring example of how determination and small changes can culminate in substantial health improvements.”
