Walk this way, it's Move IT May!

We all know that walking is fantastic for our physical and mental wellbeing.  Walking briskly most days can also boost your fitness, burn calories and help you lose weight.  In addition it can also reduce your risks of developing health problems like type 2 diabetes, cancer, heart disease and stroke.

So why not make May the month to walk your way to a healthier and happier you?  The challenge starts on Monday 5 May and runs for four weeks until Sunday 1 June.
 

How it works

There are four levels available, allowing you to choose the one that suits your needs while still providing a challenge. The month is divided into daily walking goals, enabling you to manage it effectively.  However, you could choose to walk for longer at the weekend or when you're less busy to achieve the total amount of minutes for the week.    

Each level can be completed in segments of at least 10 minutes

Level 1 = 30 minutes a day or 210 minutes a week

Level 2 = 60 minutes a day or 420 minutes a week

Level 3 = 90 minutes a day or 630 minutes a week

Level 4 = 120 minutes a day or 840 minutes a week

The Livewell team will support you every step of the way – through motivational social media posts and encouraging messages.

Clients - what you need to do

Sign up: Email your advisor by Thursday 1 May indicating the level you plan to achieve.

Track your progress:  Start tracking your walking minutes from Monday 5 May.  Share your progress and photos from your walks on our Facebook page and in our Facebook group - look out for our new Sunday Snaps feature! Encourage your friends and family to support you or even join in!

Weekly updates: Send a weekly email to your advisor with a summary of the minutes you've walked each day.  This helps them provide motivation and support.

Completion reward: Upon successfully completing the challenge, your advisor will email you a free digital certificate.
 

Public/walkers/volunteers - what you need to do

Sign up: Email us at [email protected] by Thursday 1 May specifying the level you aim to reach. 

Track your progress:  Start counting your walking minutes from Monday 5 May. Share your progress on our Facebook page and in our Facebook group (volunteers only).  Share with your friends and family too! 

Weekly updates: Send a weekly email to [email protected] with a summary of the minutes you've walked each day. 

Completion reward:  Once you complete the challenge, email [email protected] to receive your free digital certificate.
