With years of experience in administration and customer service, Lindsay is the latest recruit to our Customer Contact Team. She made the move to Livewell in August, having previously worked as an administrator at a Derby primary school. She has a passion for health, fitness and well-being and is keen to play a part in helping people make positive changes to their lives.

Experience

With a background in Journalism, I worked in local radio and PR before joining the Communications team at East Midlands Airport, a job which I loved and where I found a real passion for travel. However, after having children and with the demands of busy family life, I took a bit of career change and worked in the office at a local primary school – a hugely varied job, which gave me some great organisational and customer service skills, all of which I’m hoping I can bring to the new role.

Job role

The Customer Contact Team is the first port of call when you ring to make an appointment or want to chat about joining one of our programmes. We’re also keeping track of emails, monitoring GP and hospital referrals and sending you confirmations if you’ve booked your review, health check or stop smoking appointment online. We liaise with Derby County Community Trust and look after the referrals to our Live It programme for young people. It’s also our job to keep the Livewell Facebook page, group and website up to date. We love shouting about your successes and I’m hoping I can meet some of you and share your stories to help and motivate others.

Me in 3 words

Outgoing, approachable, organised.

My favourite meal

I love Indian food – Strictly and an Indian takeaway are my Saturday night guilty pleasure.

My passions / interests

I have always been interested in health and fitness and enjoy weights and cardio classes. However, over the past few years I’ve really fallen in love with walking and hiking. I was lucky enough to grow up in Mid Wales, a really unspoilt part of the UK, and now I love nothing more than spending my weekends back in the Welsh mountains. I also love to travel further afield and explore new places. This year I visited Thailand for the first time which was amazing! My favourite experience was getting hands-on and mud bathing with elephants at a rescue sanctuary.

My best achievement

Apart from my two boys, who I’m hugely proud of, one of my biggest personal achievements was completing the National Three Peaks Challenge. It was so tough and there were definitely tears along the way, but when you’ve pushed yourself that hard, the sense of achievement was like nothing I’ve experienced before.

What you might be surprised to hear about me

When I worked as a journalist, almost 30 years ago, I met and interviewed a few famous faces, everyone from the then Prime Minister, John Major, to Noel Edmonds and the late Derby County Manager Jim Smith.

My top lifestyle tips

Small changes can make a big difference. Try taking the stairs at work instead of the lift or walk to the shops instead of jumping in the car. You’ll be surprised how quickly you can change your habits.

Find an activity that you enjoy, that fits in with your lifestyle – maybe go along with a friend. It’s so much easier to get motivated and stick to something that you actually enjoy or when you’re invested with someone else.
